Embracing the simple pleasures of summer.
Hi mama!
As we dive into the heart of summer, let's celebrate this season of growth, exploration, and joy with our children. Summer offers the chance to create lasting memories, and enjoy new adventures.
It's not about filling our days to the max—it's about being present, cherishing giggles, days at the park, and late-night star gazing. Embrace the simple pleasures of summer—the pool splashes, fresh fruit, and barefoot freedom.
This season invites us to slow down, savor the little things, reconnect with our kids, and discover new passions together. Whether exploring nature, making our favorite summer pie, or reading stories in the backyard, let's fill this summer with wonder, laughter, and unforgettable moments.
Here’s to a summer of fun, connection, and pure joy!

EAT: Well, now I want a homemade pie. My favorite pie of all time is key lime pie, but I won’t even try to make it because I love Mrs. Edwards' key lime pie and could never do better than hers. However, I’m willing to give these a try because I need an excuse to get these gorgeous ceramic pie pans.
SUMMER BUYS: It's been crazy hot here in Michigan, and all I could think of while looking at Emi’s little kiddie pool was, "Can I fit in there?" So, we got a kiddy pool that Mama could get into as well. Best decision I’ve made all summer.
READ: I just finished Circe, one of the books from my summer list, and I LOVED it. If you like Greek mythology, you need to pick up this book.
MUSIC: Emi has this song stuck in her head, and now we do too. Luckily, it's a good song with nice summer vibes. Let's see how we feel about it at the end of the summer. 😵💫

SENSORY:I found this bag of assorted shells, and my mind started spinning with ideas: Seashell Texture Exploration, Seashell Sensory Bottles, Seashell Sorting, Seashell Water Play—there’s so much you can do with shells!
Extra points if you find a good spot to collect them, as that's a wonderful activity in itself. And how cute is this bag for collecting shells?
NATURE: There are a lot of birds around the house this time of year, and Emi is in bird heaven! Summer is a great time for bird-watching. Depending on your little one's age, you can create a simple scavenger hunt with local birds (like this one) or dive into a book (like this one) with more information.
ART: Painting with chalk is such a summer staple. You can do it on different surfaces like paper, sidewalks, or chalkboards, making it a great way to explore color and texture. Click here to see my pick for non-toxic chalks.
LANGUAGE: Last week, we took Emi to the library, and these were her picks:
Odd Birds: This gets 3/3 peanuts from Emi. The artwork is beautiful, and it includes real images at the end.
Fabulous Fishes: Not a hit. It’s fun to read, but the images are not very eye-catching.
Linh’s Rooftop Garden: This is a great book, perfect for little ones learning their fruits. It’s a fun read packed with language opportunities.
Goodnight, Numbers: This also gets 3/3 peanuts. We’ve read this one every night since we got it and will probably purchase it before we go back to Chile.
SOCIAL: We absolutely love our local library; it always has great events for little ones. Later today, we’ll be attending a storytime with bunnies! While we’re there, we’ll also pick up a few new books for the week.
