Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with A Toddler.
Hi mama!
Happy Hispanic Heritage Month! This month has been a beautiful reminder of how rich and diverse Hispanic cultures are, and I’m so excited to share a few ways we’ve been celebrating at home. Whether through food, music, or stories, I hope you and your little one enjoy these moments of celebration as much as we do.
Have a joyful week!

EAT: Let me tell you about the power of empanadas! They’re so versatile and easy to make. All you need is some empanada dough (store-bought or homemade, if you’re feeling fancy), and you can fill them with just about anything—cheese, ground beef, veggies, or even fruit. My personal favorite? Guava paste and cream cheese. 🤤
These little pockets of joy are also perfect for a quick toddler meal or snack on the go. If you want to try them, here’s an easy air fryer recipe.
FASHION: I’ve been feeling the poncho vibe lately, especially as the weather cools. The right poncho is not only cozy but instantly chic, and it gives me all the fall vibes I need. I recently snagged this one and it’s perfect for layering. Highly recommend if you want to feel like you’re wrapped in a warm hug!
BOOKS: Hispanic Heritage Month is the perfect excuse to dive into some of my favorite Latin American authors. I adore anything Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Love in the Time of Cholera is a timeless classic I love to re-read.

MOVEMENT: We’re having daily dance parties to Latin music! Emi loves to move, and it’s a great way for us to celebrate our culture together. If you’ve never tried dancing to salsa with your toddler, I highly recommend it!
MUSIC: Spanish songs are a staple at our house, and Emi has her favorites. Había Un Sapo and Los Pollitos Dicen are at the top of her list.
MINDFULNESS: Ok, so the truth is that most of the time Emi and I say our daily affirmations in Spanish. I know, wow! So now that our secret is out, I’ll share with you our favorite (and shortest 😉) Spanish affirmations. Click here to download.
LANGUAGE: And, as you might have guessed, we also read in Spanish. I love it when books have both Spanish and English that way we can enjoy them in both languages. Here are some recommendations:
ART: Our craft this week? Paper plate llamas! It’s a simple but fun way to add a little creativity into our Hispanic Heritage celebrations. You can find the craft here.
ps. All my free printables are available here.

This setup by Jessica Plemmons is so fun! And, if you think your little one is ready, consider doing this activity with the real thing! Assembling their tacos is a great practical skill to have.
