Tips to help you thrive this summer.

Hi mama,
This email was supposed to go out next week but I couldn’t wait! I had too many summer tips I needed to share with you.
We are in full summer mode as we prepare to travel back home to Michigan this Friday. I can't wait to spend our summer holiday with family!
Summer is an exciting time, but it can come with some anxieties, like how to keep the kids entertained all day and how they'll handle a long trip.
This email is packed with ideas and tips to help you thrive this summer.
Let's make this summer a joyful one!

EAT: First things first, let’s talk food. As soon as summer hits, all I can think about is eating a big ol' salad. This is my go-to lunch for the season, and I like to prepare a big batch. To make sure it keeps well in the fridge for the next day, I only put dressing on the portion I'm eating. Here are some of my favorites.
BEAUTY: My summer beauty routine is not so different from my usual routine except I make sure I use sunscreen daily (this Roche Posay SPF 5O is my ride or die). Also, I always have some this natural bug spray handy.
READ: Summer is prime reading time for me and I try to catch up with my TBR list. I want to know what all the BookTok buzz is about so I’ll check out Fourth Wing. Also on my reading list are I Cannot Control Everything Forever, Circe, and Little Seed.

Set yourself up for summer success with these tips and tricks.
🗓️ Always have a plan. I plan my activities monthly, weekly, and daily to keep me organized and stress-free. At the beginning of the month, I mark any family events, local events, special outings, etc. Then, every Sunday I list all the activities we’ll be doing during the week with a loose daily schedule.
🌲 The outdoors is your best friend. If you have a backyard you can prep the space with a sandbox or a fun water station. If you live in an apartment with a balcony consider a small gardening station or a kiddy pool.
☔ Plan for a rainy day. The weather won’t always cooperate so make sure you have a list of go-to indoor activities handy in case plans change. Click here to see 30 indoor activities.
☀️ Don’t let summer pass you by. Summer vacations might seem long now, but it will feel like you blinked and they were over. Make sure you make the most of it with a bucket list. Click here to see ours.

Here are the activities Emi is looking forward to the most this summer
MOVEMENT: If you are new here, hi! We love scavenger hunts! We are looking forward to creating some new themed ones, but we’ll kick off the summer with this summer scavenger hunt. For free scavenger hunt printables, click here. Also, lots of running around and swimming!
SENSORY: We live in an apartment, so we don’t do a lot of water play, but in Michigan, our family has a lot of great outdoor space for water play. We are thinking water stations, sprinklers, and water slides!
MUSIC: We are lucky to have a professional musician in the family, and Emi is looking forward to hearing Grandad sing and play the piano. Also, Nanny has the best instruments for family jam sessions.
LANGUAGE: Our local library has a great selection of books, and we are also planning to attend some of the activities they’ve planned for the summer. Don’t forget, your local library is a great resource to get new books and mingle with other moms.
MINDFULNESS: Walks at the end of the day are a great way to unwind and relax after a long summer day. Emi loves to take in the summer breeze, spot birds, and feel the grass under her little toes.
ART: Also on our to-do list is visiting some museums. Check your local museum’s website for free entrance days and special activities for kids. You can use this time as a language opportunity and describe the art pieces you see or bring along a sketchbook to let your little artist explore.
NATURE: We love visiting gardens while we are in Michigan; Hidden Lake is one of our local favorites. Also on our to-do list is to find an aviary because, in case you don’t know, Emi LOVES birds.
