09.09 Weekly Message

Mama, you need to get out more.

Hi mama!

This past week was perhaps my most social since having Emi! I went to a stitching party and a concert—can you believe it?

As a homebody, I don’t usually miss going out. I enjoy my cozy time with a book and some crocheting, and spending time with Emi is my favorite. But it was really nice to get out.

How did it happen? For the stitching party, I left right before bedtime, and my husband handled the routine (he always does 90% of the work anyway). For the concert, an angel mama babysat Emi (while she slept, lol), so my husband and I got a night out. The best part? We were back before 11 pm.

Because Mama needs her sleep!

You deserve to have fun, so don’t forget to get out and do something that brings you joy.

Have a joyful week!

EAT: Before heading out to the concert, we had some friends over for dinner. I whipped up quick burgers, tossed some potato wedges in the oven, and made a delicious apple coleslaw. For dessert, I baked Dulce de Leche brownies, which are just a Ghirardelli brownie mix with some dulce de leche swirled in.

The next day, Emi kept eyeing the brownies, but since she’s not having sugar yet, we’ll try these no-bake energy bites instead: link.

TODDLER LIFE: Last week, I mentioned brushing, but I know many of you are still in the thick of teething. I’ve been using this oil since Emi started teething, and it hasn’t let us down yet. At night, I even dab a little on her pacifier, and it works wonders.

MUSIC: This is Emi’s favorite song (right after Old McDonald Had a Farm), and honestly, I feel a little bad we went to the concert without her!

CRAFT: I’m on the hunt for crochet projects Emi will actually enjoy—she’s not too interested in the clothes Mama makes. But this turtle game? I think she’s going to love it. I mean, how cute is this?!

SENSORY: Fall is just around the corner and I know we are all trying to find some good pine cones. If you are not having luck or live in an area where there are hard to find you can find some here.

MINDFULNESS: I love to practice mindfulness through reading which is why I loved Let’s Grow on an Adventure. This books beautifully shows how nature can help children manage their worries and find calm and includes great interactive activities at the end. Plus, Emi loved pointing out all the little animals she saw throughout the book.

LANGUAGE: If you want to see what else Emi is reading, check out our latest reading round-up here.

NATURE: Remember when I was raving about bird feeders? Well, we set up a few, but no visitors so far. We’ve moved them around and added this hummingbird feeder to see if we get luckier. If you have any tips for attracting birds, please share!

ART: Emi is obsessed with everything under the sea, so this little art project is perfect! It’s not only fun but also doubles as a color-sorting activity. We love a versatile craft!

PRACTICAL SKILLS: Emi had a smooth transition to an open cup, but now she’s set on using Mama’s glass cup. I’m on the hunt for a safe glass option and so far, I’ve found these.

And this was our process to transition:

This setup by Melissa Marie Carroll is absolutely adorable! It’s giving all the apple-picking and pumpkin-patch vibes, and I’m totally here for it!
