Arts and Crafts for Toddlers
Montessori-inspired arts and crafts activities to encourage self-expression.
Hi mama,
We’ve finally made it to the last type of activity: Arts and Crafts!
If you’re just catching up, here’s what we’ve covered so far:
Now, let’s get back to the fun stuff. Listen, I’m a crafty mama, so since my little one was born, I’ve been dying to do little crafts with her. However, I quickly realized how important it is to introduce these activities at the right time and with the right mindset.
In the Montessori approach, for example, the focus is on the process over the product. I love that! This allows our little ones to explore, create, and express themselves freely, without any pressure. Through these hands-on activities, they get to experience new textures, strengthen their fine motor skills, build concentration, and let their imaginations run wild.
So, if you’re a Type A perfectionist like me, take a deep breath, let go, and embrace the mess! Whatever the craft was “supposed” to be doesn’t matter as much as allowing our little ones to experience the beauty of self-expression. And trust me, the mess is worth it.
In joyful motherhood,
Liz
